Another busy year at A'Bear and Ball Architects LLP

2023 was another busy year at A'Bear & Ball Architects LLP! Throughout last year, the Practice worked on a number of exciting projects, including designing numerous self-build homes, barn conversions, residential developments and school buildings.

Work is in progress for quite a few projects too, including a large multi-unit housing scheme in Oxford, a dining hall extension at a school in Wokingham and a number of contemporary and low energy homes.

In the past year, the team has also really enjoyed taking part in more CPD events as we strive to continue developing our knowledge in the wider industry.

After such a great year at the Practice, we would like to say a BIG thank you to all of our fantastic team members, clients and partnering consultants.

Highlights of 2023

In 2023, we were delighted to have our project Whitehouse Farm shortlisted at the prestigious Building Awards. Plot 154 in Graven Hill was also a finalist at the Building Innovation Awards, and the Practice was shortlisted for two awards at the OxPropFest Awards.

There were a number of other highlights this year, including celebrating the Practice’s 7th year anniversary in October.

On top of his architecture work, Partner Rob cycled the iconic Land’s End to John O’Groats and rode in support of Helen & Douglas House, raising an impressive £3,000.

While leading our portfolio of self-build projects, Partner Damon has also been working on his own self build, which is the second he’s completed.

Supported by the Practice, Duncan successfully took his Architectural Part 3 Examination in Architecture and registered as a Chartered Architect.

As the Practice’s leading ‘Certified Passivhaus Designer’, Gavin has been at the helm for our Passivhaus projects and ultra low energy designs.

Katie is close to gaining CIAT accreditation, and we look forward to her becoming a fully accredited Architectural Technologist soon.

And Taryn has continued to be the glue holding us all together, managing our office and reducing the team's administrative burden, which has become as important as ever.

To all of our clients and consultants, we very much value your custom. We’re thankful to have worked with you this year and look forward to continuing working with you.

Best wishes for 2024!
