Planning permission secured for contemporary residential schemes

A’Bear & Ball Architects has been the lead architect for a range of residential projects that recently received planning permission.

One included the conversion of a single dwelling into three homes in Ducklington, Oxfordshire, and another was for a four-bedroom detached replacement dwelling in Wargrave, Berkshire.

Three homes in Ducklington, Oxfordshire

West Oxfordshire District Council recently granted Planning Permission for another one of our projects in Ducklington. The scheme includes the conversion of a single existing dwelling to create three one-bedroom residential dwellings in Ducklington's Conservation Area.

This will provide a new lease of life to the site and is a great opportunity to re-use the existing dilapidated building and bring forward much-needed additional smaller housing units to the area.

Planning Permission was also recently granted by Wokingham Borough Council for a four-bedroom detached replacement dwelling in Wargrave, Berkshire.

The proposals are for a contemporary, low energy custom/self-build home which will contribute to the eclectic mix of architecture characteristic of the surrounding area. The design will also give the building a unique identity and make best use of the plot’s context and long-reaching views.

This home will have a ‘chalk’ through-coloured render and metal roof. Meanwhile, the subservient, single storey element will be clad with black vertical timber and feature a sedum roof and stained timber cladding.

This provides architectural interest and breaks up the massing, while providing a connection with the nearby trees. The dwelling will also have high thermal fabric levels and a high level of energy efficiency.

We worked closely alongside Jake Collinge Planning Consultancy and the client in developing the scheme to a successful planning conclusion.
