A’Bear and Ball Architects become NaCSBA members to support self-build industry
A’Bear & Ball Architects LLP is now members of the National Custom & Self Build Association (NaCSBA). With a growing track record of helping deliver contemporary self-build homes with low energy designs, we want to help promote and support the self-build sector.
The Practice has worked on a number of self-build projects in the past four years. Providing hands-on experience, Partner Damon Ball even undertook his own self-build project in 2015. It was featured on the cover of Self Build & Design magazine’s December 2016 issue.
There are two projects A’Bear & Ball Architects have worked on at Graven Hill, which is the UK’s largest self and custom build community. One of our most recent self builds that completed last year was even named the Best Timber Frame Home at the 2020 Build It Awards.
The benefits of self-building
Recent research commissioned by NaCSBA and the Building Societies Association has revealed that 1 in 3 people are interested in self-building. Self-building has many benefits including the ability to design a home to the owner’s exact specifications. It also provides the ability to create a home that can adapt to changing needs in the future.
Additionally, another significant benefit of self-building a home is designing and living in a home that is more sustainable and has less impact on the environment. For many self-builders, energy efficiency is especially important when building their own home.
What is NaCSBA?
As the voice of the custom and self-build housing sector, NaCSBA’s mission is to “make custom and self-build a mainstream choice for everyone seeking a home of their own.” NaCSBA was set up to promote self-build and custom build as a form of housing delivery that can make a substantial contribution to UK housebuilding.
On behalf of its members, NaCSBA lobbies the government, provides support for self-build consumers, undertakes sector research, creates opportunities of growth and represents members’ interests.
