Purslane Drive

The dynamic 'folded’ form of this single storey rear home extension designed by A’Bear and Ball Architects LLP is a strong conceptual design response to the properties context and existing lack of privacy in the rear garden. The extension is carefully designed to compliment but contrast with the imposing two storey red brick facade of the existing 5 bedroom house behind.

The extension adds 30m2 of extra living space and is carefully aligned towards the private/deep part of the rear garden with glazing angled to improve the relationship between the house and the garden and to avoid overlooking by the neighbouring property to the rear.

The large opening formed in the rear wall of the house allows a larger open plan kitchen and uninterrupted linkage and flow into the dining room extension. Large glazed sliding screens to the extension allow fantastic views of the garden from the kitchen whilst also allowing the dining space to spill out onto the rear terrace in the summer months.
